Dear Aspiring Coaches,

There are a few options for the aspiring coaches in our club to get qualifications and improve their skills.

The Introduction to Community Coaching (ICC) and the Community Coaching (CC) workshops are the beginning steps to helping kids learn how to cross country ski in a balanced and fun environment as well as learning how to create a healthy and fully functioning club infrastructure.

The ICC is the entry level course that teaches coaches how to deliver a series of age-appropriate skill development sessions including fundamentals of technique, growth and development considerations and how to create a motivating learning environment.  The Nelson club is hosting this workshop this year on November 20-21 in Nelson.  Contact Lorraine Douglas 250-505-2004.

The CC is the second level (with ICC as a pre-requisite) and is held over Friday evening and the weekend.  The majority takes place on snow and allows you to develop your own personal skills as well as learning to teach kids and beginner skiers.  Every person will participate and learn both classic and skate techniques during the course.

Minimum age requirement for either course is 16 years.

We are looking to hold a CC workshop at Black Jack in December and we need six interested coaches in order to go ahead.

Possible dates are December 4-6 or December 18-20.

Interested coaches please RSVP to Kris Heale with their availability on the weekends listed.  Also, if available both weekends please list order of preference.
